Linzhou Hexin Casting to stop S.G. cast iron production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Apr 23 - As the second largest S.G. cast iron producers in Henan, Linzhou Hexin Casting Co. (Linzhou Hexin Casting) plans to halt production from April 8, with output to reduce by nearly 1,600tpd.
"Due to high cost but falling prices of S.G. cast iron, we decided to stop production from April 8 and the output will remove by about 1,600tpd since then," said a source from the company, adding that they would produce almost 11,000t of S.G. cast iron in April, down from 48,000t in March.
Linzhou Hexin Casting owns an annual production capacity of 600,000t for S.G. cast iron. It recorded an output of roughly 58,000t in the Q1 of this year, against 345,000t or so in 2022. It has an inventory of about 12,000t at present.
On Thursday, the mainstream prices of S.G. cast iron Q10 from the company stood at RMB3,650-3,680/t (USD531-535/t) EXW D/P, in line with Wednesday. Discouraged by weak demand from foundries, S.G. cast iron prices would decline further in the coming week.
