Indium ingot prices stay stable in China market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Apr 23 - Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min producers generally keep their prices stable at present supported by unchanged prices of crude indium 99%min and the market still runs smoothly. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min stand at RMB1,430-1,480/kg (USD208-215/kg) EXW D/P, unchanged from early this week. Market participants expect that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay stable within this week considering that most producers refuse to lower the prices and just wait for downstream consumers to purchase.
A South-China-based producer noted that they offer RMB1,450/kg (USD211/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min at present and refuse to lower the price below RMB1,440/kg (USD209/kg) EXW D/P even for firm bids, unchanged from this Monday, while did not close any deal in the past two days in view of no inquiries. They last sold around 2t at RMB1,440/kg (USD209/kg) EXW D/P last week and prefer to watch the market with steady prices within this week. The source said, "Nothing changed in the market and we forecast that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay firm in the coming week as crude indium 99%min prices keep stable."
The producer, based on a production capacity of 150tpy of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to produce about 9t this month, the same as last month. They hold no inventory now, in line with the end of March. They produced about 85t totally in 2022 and around 24t in the past three months in 2023.
A trader in Southern China stated that they offer RMB1,450/kg (USD211/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min now and could not accept any lower price even for regular clients, the same as the end of last week. As their consumers kept watching the market, they did not conclude any orders over the past month. They last sold around 1t at RMB1,425/kg (USD207/kg) EXW D/P at the beginning of March. "We are of the opinion that the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would remain stable within this week due to unchanged prices from producers," the source said.
The trader, based on a regular monthly trading volume of 3t of indium ingot 99.995%min, only sold around 1t in March, down by about 3t from February. They hold around 1t of stock presently, in line with the end of last month. They sold around 35t totally in 2022 and around 8t so far in 2023.
