Chinese ammonium metavanadate prices weak

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Apr 23 - Due to the dropping vanadium alloy bidding prices, Chinese ammonium metavanadate prices couldn't get enough support and the market mentality stayed weak during the past week. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min stand at RMB125,000-127,000/t (USD18.3-18.6/kg) EXW D/P, unchanged from middle last week. Considering that the rare inquiries in spot market continues, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would keep weak in the coming week.
"Bidding prices of vanadium nitride we inquired dropped to the latest around RMB190,500/t (USD36.3/kg V) delivered D/P, which reduced our confidence seriously and we could hardly maintain our price firm," said a producer in South China. They last sold around 30t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB125,000/t (USD18.3/kg) EXW D/P about one week ago and they still quote the same price level for the moment. Considering that most buyers prefer to watch the market and they could see little inquiries now, they predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would edge down in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 1,800t, they produced about 1,030t in 2022 and about 290t so far this year. They expect to produce about 120t this month, up by about 20t from March. They have around 30t of stocks for the moment, up by around 10t MoM.
"Vanadium nitride bidding prices we inquired dropped to the latest around RMB192,000/t (USD36.5/kg V) delivered D/P and vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min prices also moved down to around RMB130,000/t (USD8.7/lb V2O5) EXW D/P, which brought huge dropping pressure on ammonium metavanadate 98%min prices," said a producer in North China. They last sold 30t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB127,000/t (USD18.6/kg) EXW D/P about one week ago and didn't receive any new inquiries after that. They still quote this price for the moment, but in view of the negative market mentality, they expect that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would drop to around RMB125,000/t (USD18.3/kg) in the following week.
