Aluminum fluoride prices in China decline

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Apr 23 - Over the past week, the purchase demand from southwest China remained weak after aluminum smelters cut production. Present mainstream prices for aluminum fluoride 61%min in China keep at RMB8,550-8,750/t (USD1,242-1,271/t) EXW, down by RMB50/t (USD7/t) from late last week for the weakened demand. Producers anticipate stable prices in the coming week supported by the cost.
A producer of aluminum fluoride in south China reported that they now offer RMB8,600/t (USD1,250/t) delivered for aluminum fluoride 61%min with the freight at around RMB300/t (USD44/t) and sold around 400t to a major regular buyer early this week, down from around RMB8,900/t (USD1,293/t) delivered for around 1,000t one month ago. "Most aluminum smelters in Yunnan cut production and one of my regular buyers reduced the purchase volume," said the source, who predicted that the price might remain stable in the coming week and cut production from early this week.
With five production lines and the total production capacity of 90,000tpy, they produced around 5,000t last month and might produce over 4,000t this month, with present inventories close to 2,000t, up from less than 1,000t one month ago. They produced around 60,000t in 2022 and over 10,000t so far this year.
Another producer of aluminum fluoride from south China confirmed that they now offer RMB8,700/t (USD1,264/t) delivered for aluminum fluoride 61%min with the freight over RMB100/t (USD15/t), while a major buyer requested RMB8,600/t (USD1,250/t) delivered. "We lately sold around 200t at around RMB8,900/t (USD1,293/t) delivered early last month," said the source, who plans to insist on RMB8,700/t (USD1,264/t) delivered as they will suffer losses at lower prices. The source agreed that the demand becomes weak now and they hold around 1,000t in stock at present but did not have stock one month ago.
