Great Wall Carbon cuts prebaked anode production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Apr 23 - Chibi Great Wall Carbon Products Co., a major prebaked anode producer in Hubei of China, cut production from early April and might produce 9,000t in April, down from around 18,000t in March, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We produced around 18,000t last month and might produce 9,000t this month as we cut production from early this month for the weakened demand," said the source, adding that they hold around 20,000t in stock now.
With two baking furnaces and the total production capacity of 240,000tpy, they produced over 200,000t in 2022 and over 40,000t so far this year.
Current mainstream prices for prebaked anode S 3%max in southwest China stand at RMB5,850-5,900/t (USD850-858/t) delivered, down by RMB200/t (USD29/t) from early this week for the weakened demand. As aluminum smelters in Yunnan cut production, the demand reduced.
