Chinese potassium fluotantalate market prices down

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Mar 23 - As most downstream consumers remained inactive in purchasing, Chinese potassium fluotantalate suppliers lowered their prices in the past week. The current mainstream prices of Chinese potassium fluotantalate decreased to RMB1,090-1,120/kg (USD158-163/kg) EXW D/P, down by RMB30/kg (USD4/kg) from early last week. As most suppliers compete for limited orders, insiders predict that the potassium fluotantalate prices would decrease further in the coming week.
A producer in South China claimed that they offered RMB1,150/kg (USD167/kg) EXW D/P for potassium fluotantalate and could accept RMB1,120/kg (USD163/kg) for orders no less than 5t today, while they could accept RMB1,150/kg (USD167/kg) for the same quantity when they quoted RMB1,170/kg (USD170/kg) early last week. "We last sold about 5t at around RMB1,150/kg (USD167/kg) two weeks ago," said the producer, who received no inquiry so far this week, while they received one inquiry last week. As most consumers remain inactive in sending inquiries, the producer plans to lower their price by around RMB20/kg (USD3/kg) next week and predicts that the mainstream price would decrease by around RMB20/kg (USD3/kg) in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 400t, expects to produce 20t in March, unchanged from last month. They produced nearly 220t in 2022 and almost 60t so far in 2023. They hold around 5t of stocks now, unchanged from last month.
"We quote RMB1,130/kg (USD164/kg) EXW D/P for potassium fluotantalate and could accept RMB1,100/kg (USD160/kg) for orders no less than 1t at present, while we offered RMB1,130/kg (USD164/kg) and could accept no counteroffers for the same quantity early last week," said a trader in South China, who failed to receive any inquiries after they last sold about 1t at around RMB1,130/kg (USD164/kg) to a regular client in mid-March. Discouraged by weak demand from end users, the trader has no confidence in the market next week and predicts that the mainstream prices would decrease by around RMB20/kg (USD3/kg) in the following week.
With a monthly trading volume of 2t, the trader would sell around 1t in March, down by 1t from February. They sold around 20t in 2022 and almost 5t so far in 2023. They hold around 2t of stocks now, up by 1t MoM.
