CNCA: Major coal production concentrated to Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi & Xinjiang

The 2022 Coal Industry Development Annual Report issued by the China National Coal Association (CNCA) on March 28 indicated that the coal industry witnessed continuously rapid development and significant advantages of new energy power. Over the past decade, the number of coal mines in China dropped from 13,000 to less than 4,400, and meanwhile the number of 10Mtpy coal mines increased from 33 to 79, with the total production capacity expanding from 450 million tons to 1.28 billion tons per annum. By late 2022, China developed 572 intelligent coal mines and 1019 intelligent mining surfaces with 31 kinds of robots working on site.
At the same time, China speeded up concentrating major coal production to Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Xinjiang, and their aggregate coal output increased from 2.54 billion tons to 3.69 billion tons, accounting for 80.9% from 64.3% of the country's total raw coal output.
