Grand Green cuts battery grade nickel sulfate production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Mar 23 - Grand Green Technology Inc., one major battery grade nickel sulfate producer in Central China, predicts an output of about 545t in March.
"We choose to decline nickel sulfate output to avoid overstocking, discouraged by the continuously decreasing demand for battery grade nickel sulfate. We expect to produce about 545t in March, lower than around 910t in February", a source from the company said, and added that their new nickel electrowinning production line built since February would commence commercial production in late April.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 36,000t of nickel sulfate and four production lines, produced about 17,780t in 2022 and holds no stock now.
On Tuesday, the mainstream prices of Chinese battery grade nickel sulfate hovered at RMB35,500-36,000/t (USD5,157-5,230/t) delivered D/A, down by RMB800/t (USD116/t) from Wednesday. Given that consumers intentionally lower prices for few orders, insiders believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese battery grade nickel sulfate would go down in the coming week.
