Chinese indium ingot prices stay unchanged

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 23 - Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min market saw inactive deals over the past week considering that most downstream consumers refused to build more stocks with weak demand. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min hover at RMB1,420-1,470/kg (USD206-214/kg) EXW D/P, in line with the end of last week. Market participants believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay stable within this week supported by firm prices of crude indium 99%min presently.
A South-China-based trader noted that they offer RMB1,430/kg (USD208/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min at present and refuse to lower the price even for firm bids as they could not build stocks at lower price now. They also insisted on RMB1,430/kg (USD208/kg) EXW D/P last week and last sold around 1t at RMB1,430/kg (USD208/kg) EXW D/P late last week. The source said, "The market keeps quiet and nothing changed in downstream consumers' demand, so we forecast that the prevailing prices would stay unchanged within this week."
The trader, with a regular monthly trading volume of 2t of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to sell around 2.5t in March and sold around 2t last month. They hold around 1t of stock now, down by about 1t from the end of last month. They sold around 25t in 2022 and around 5t till now in 2023.
"We offer RMB1,440/kg (USD209/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min now and could accept a counteroffer of RMB10/kg (USD1.45/kg) for firm bids no less than 1t, the same as last week," a producer in Southern China, adding that they also insisted on RMB1,430/kg (USD208/kg) EXW D/P last week. They last sold around 1t at RMB1,430/kg (USD208/kg) EXW D/P at the end of last week and earlier sold around 1t at RMB1,440/kg (USD209/kg) EXW D/P early last week. They are of the opinion that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would remain firm in the coming week supported by firm prices of crude indium 99%min.
The producer, based on a production capacity of 200tpy of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to produce around 10t this month, unchanged from last month. They hold around 20t of stocks now, in line with the end of last month. They produced about 120t in 2022 and around 20t since early 2023.
