BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Mar 23 - American bismuth ingot 99.99%min market witnessed inactive deals over the past two weeks considering that most suppliers held limited stocks for selling, while consumers also only purchased from hand to mouth with unchanged demand. Currently, the mainstream prices of American bismuth ingot 99.99%min stay firm at USD4.4-4.5/lb delivered D/P, unchanged from early this week. Market participants forecast that the prevailing prices of American bismuth ingot 99.99%min would show an uptrend in the coming week driven by higher import prices recently.
An American trader disclosed that they insist on USD4.5/lb delivered D/P for bismuth ingot 99.99%min at present even for firm bids and tend to move up the price further to test the market in view of increasing import prices now. They also refused to sell below USD4.5/lb delivered D/P last week, while did not close any deal over the past two weeks. They last sold around 5t at USD4.5/lb delivered D/P early March. The source said, "Given that the import prices stay rising, we believe that the mainstream prices of American bismuth ingot 99.99%min would also go up slightly in the coming week."
The trader, based on a regular monthly trading volume of 10t of bismuth ingot 99.99%min, expects to sell around 10t this month, almost unchanged from last month. They hold more than 20t of stocks now, in line with the end of last month.
Another trader in America noted that they held back from selling bismuth ingot 99.99%min with a bottom price of USD4.6/lb delivered America at present as they booked around 20t of materials, while did not receive it till now. They also refused to sell below USD4.6/lb delivered America early this week with wait-and-see attitudes. They last sold around 5t at USD4.4/lb delivered America in the middle of March. "We forecast that the mainstream prices of American bismuth ingot 99.99%min would move up slightly in the following week in view of limited stocks in the spot market and higher import prices now," the source said.
