Ansteel suspends one HRC production line

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Mar 23 - Anshan Iron and Steel Group Co. (Ansteel), the largest HRC producer in Northeast China, halted the 2,150mm HRC production line on March 4, and will resume production on March 19, with the output to reduce by 100,000t in total.
"We conducted the 15-day annual facility maintenance on the 2,150mm HRC production line on March 4 following the upgrade of the steel-making plant, while planned to halt the line for only 5 days in February," disclosed a sales official from Ansteel. Meanwhile, the source reports warming sales performance. Adopting optimistic attitudes towards the market prospect, Ansteel decided to move up HRC EXW prices for April production by RMB300/t (USD44/t).
Reporting the annual HRC production capacity of 15.5 million tons for four lines (1,580mm, 1,700mm, 1,780mm, 2,150mm), Ansteel would produce 1.45 million tons of HRC in the first quarter of 2023 and recorded the total output of around 6.34 million tons in 2022. The output in March would reach 460,000t. Ansteel does not hold any stock right now.
Presently, the mainstream price of HRC Q235B 5.5mm*1,500mm*C stands at RMB4,330/t (USD629/t) D/P in warehouse Shenyang, Liaoning, similar to last Friday. With positive anticipations for the market prospect, traders keep eager to lift prices, but the demand from downstream industries remains far from strong.
