BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Mar 23 - In view of the tight supply in spot market, Chinese ammonium metavanadate market mentality maintained solid during the past week. At present, the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min stand at RMB130,000-132,000/t (USD18.7-19.0/kg) EXW D/P, the same as early last week. Considering that downstream vanadium product prices stay in a stalemate now, insiders believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would keep solid in the coming week.
"Vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min prices we inquired stayed solid at around RMB139,000/t (USD9.2/lb V2O5) EXW D/P during the past week, which could offer effective support for ammonium metavanadate price and we refuse to accept any orders below RMB130,000/t (USD18.7/kg) EXW D/P now," said a producer in South China. They last sold 32t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB130,000/t (USD18.7/kg) about 10 days ago and refuse to accept any discount now. Considering that their current production could hardly meet clients' demand now, they believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would keep solid in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 2,000t, they produced about 700t in 2022 and about 190t so far this year. The producer expects to produce about 100t this month, the same as last month. They have no inventory now, unchanged from late last month.
"We quoted RMB132,000/t (USD19.0/kg) EXW D/P in retail market and RMB130,000/t (USD18.7/kg) for bulk orders no less than 10t during the past week," said a producer in North China. They refused all orders with prices below their quotations directly and just sold 15t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB130,000/t (USD18.7/kg) late last week. Considering that vanadium nitride and ferrovanadium bidding prices stayed in a stalemate during the past week, they expects that the mainstream prices of Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min would stay firm in the following week.
With an annual production capacity of 1,000t, they produced about 450t in total in 2022 and about 100t in the first two months of 2023. They expect to produce about 50t in this month, almost the same as last month, holding no stock for the moment, unchanged MoM.
