Xinxin Mining to overhaul electrowinning nickel production equipment

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Co., Ltd., one major electrowinning nickel producer in Northwest China, plans to halt production for equipment maintenance in the middle of March and predicts an output of around 100t this month.
"Our company intends to completely suspend production for equipment maintenance from the middle of March and expects to finish the work within three months. Our electrowinning nickel output is expected to reach about 100t in March, lower than around 500t in February", a source from the company said, and added that they produce electrowinning nickel mainly by nickel sulphide ore.
The company, with an annual production capacity of 15,000t, produced about 11,700t in 2022 and holds no inventory now.
On Wednesday, the mainstream prices of Chinese electrowinning nickel hovered at RMB195,400-196,400/t (USD28,031-28,175/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB2,600/t (USD373/t) from Tuesday. Given the slightly tight supply and increasing demand at present, insiders believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese electrowinning nickel would go up in the coming week.
