Jinxin Chemical launches the second alumina production line

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - Guangxi Tiandong Jinxin Chemical Co., a major alumina producer in south China, launched the second production line with the production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per year from early March, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We launched the second production line with the annual production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes from early this month," said the source, who might produce close to 70,000t in March and targets around 100,000t in April, with no inventory in hand now. The new line with the investment amount of around RMB2 (USD0.287) billion started construction from the middle of 2021.
With two production lines and the total production capacity of 2 million tonnes per year, they produced close to 800,000t in 2022 and over 100,000t during the first two months of this year. They will depend on both imported bauxite and Chinese origin bauxite.
Present mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in south China stand at RMB2,840-2,870/t (USD408-412/t) EXW, stable from early this week. As aluminum smelters in Yunnan cut production, the demand for alumina turns weak now.
