Baoshun Technology reduces coal tar pitch production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - Baoshun Technology Co., a major coal tar pitch producer in Henan of China, cut production from early this month and might produce less than 10,000t this month, down from around 15,000t last month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We now keep one line in operation and would produce less than 10,000t this month," said the source, who produced around 15,000t last month and holds no stock now. According to the source, the demand became weak from early this month and they cut production for equipment maintenance.
With three production lines and the total production capacity of 300,000tpy, they produced around 160,000t in 2022 and around 300,000t during the first two months of this year.
Current mainstream prices for coal tar pitch C.V. 53%min in China stand at RMB6,250-6,450/t (USD898-927/t) EXW, down by RMB100/t (USD14/t) from late last week for the weakened demand. Prebaked anode producers in China cut production, leading to sluggish demand for coal tar pitch.
