Bengang Steel to halt one HRC production line

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - Angang Group Benxi Iron and Steel Group Co. (Bengang Steel), one of the major HRC producers in Northeast China, will suspend the 1,780mm HRC production line for 10 days in May, with the output to reduce by 50,000t in total.
"We plan to conduct the 10-day annual facility maintenance on the 1,780mm line in Beiying Plant in May, with the starting date uncertain," disclosed a sales official from Bengang Steel. In the meantime, the source pointed out that Bengang Steel endeavors to run all the four HRC production lines (1,700mm, 1,880mm, 2,300mm, 1,780mm) fully this month, with the output to reach 600,000t or so, up from around 580,000t in February. Therein, the exports accounts for about 16%, with the rest sold in the domestic market.
Based on an annual production capacity of 13 million tons, Bengang Steel totally produced approximately 6.5 million tons of HRC in 2022, up from 6.14 million tons more or less in 2021. Bengang Steel holds no stock at the moment.
At present, the mainstream price of HRC Q235B 5.5mm*1,500mm*C from Bengang Steel hovers at RMB4,290/t (USD616/t) D/P in warehouse Shenyang, Liaoning, up by RMB20/t (USD3/t) from Tuesday. Traders remain not in a hurry to sell and lift prices actively supported by the positive anticipation for the market prospect, but the demand from downstream industries keeps far from strong.
