Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min prices steady

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Mar 23 - Given weak demand from the downstream and high raw material prices, the current mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min 200-500mm stand firm temporarily at RMB8,000-8,200/t (USD1,154-1,183/t) EXW D/P from late last week. Insiders hold the view that the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would edge down within this week due to sluggish demand.
A producer from Inner Mongolia disclosed, "Our offer for ferrosilicon 75%min 200-500mm still stands at RMB8,100/t (USD1,169/t) EXW D/P without any counteroffer from late last week". They sold 200t today and last sold 300t late last week both at RMB8,100/t (USD1,169/t). The producer holds negative attitude towards the market for weak demand and believes that the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would weaken by the end of this week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 55,000t, plans to produce around 4,500t in March, up by 500t from last month. They don't have stock currently.
A consumer from Shaanxi mentioned that the best price of ferrosilicon 75%min 200-500mm they received today stood at RMB8,100/t (USD1,169/t) EXW D/P. "We didn't purchased today and last purchased 100t at RMB8,100/t (USD1,169/t) late last week when suppliers couldn't accept any lower price", the consumer noted. They stopped consumption from today because of weak demand from end market. The consumer predicts that the mainstream prices of Chinese ferrosilicon 75%min would move down given supplier would lower their prices.
Based on the consumption capacity of 36,000tpy, the consumer expects to consume about 2,200t in March, down by 500t from the previous month for weak demand. They hold no inventory at the moment.
