Valbaux increases bauxite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Mar 23 - Valbaux Minetech, a major bauxite producer in India, increased production from late last month and would produce over 150,000t in March, up from over 100,000t in February, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We would produce over 150,000t this month, up from around 100,000t last month," said the source, adding that the local demand improved. In addition, they plan to export bauxite to China and hold around 100,000t in stock now, focusing on bauxite Al2O3 45%min ReSiO2 5.5%max.
With the annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes, they produced around 700,000t in 2022 and close to 300,000t so far this year.
Present mainstream prices for bauxite Al2O3 47%min ReSiO2 5%max stand at USD65-67/dt CIF China, stable from late last week. As Indonesia will ban bauxite export from this June, Chinese alumina refineries start exploring bauxite from neighbor countries like India.
