Lanzhou Xinyongda to resume black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Mar 23 - A major black silicon carbide producer in Gansu, Lanzhou Xinyongda Silicon Carbide Co., Ltd. plans to resume black silicon carbide production on 20th March and expected to produce about 1,200t in April.
"We suspended production on 16th January to start our Spring Festival holiday and stayed close for sluggish market demand. We would resume production on 20th March, expecting an output of almost 1,200t in April", a source from the company revealed, noting that they would produce the first batch of products in early April.
With a current production capacity of 15,000tpy, the company produced only about 6,400t in 2022 due to equipment upgrading and they plan to produce about 10,000t this year. They hold an inventory of nearly 1,000t at present.
The current mainstream prices of black silicon carbide 98%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 0.5%max free C 0.2%max stand at RMB8,900/t (USD1,286/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Gansu, on par with late last week. The market witnessed limited deals as the market demand remained in low position since mid-February. However, in view of the firm production costs, insiders predict that the prevailing prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would stay stable in the coming week.
