Xijin Mining and Metallurgy Co. Resumed the production of silicomanganese

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 6 March 23 - As one of the major silicomanganese Mn65%min, Si17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.04%max producers in China, Erdos Xijin Mining and Metallurgy Co., Ltd resumed their silicomanganese production in early February and plans to increase their production in March. They produced around 5,000t of silicomanganese in February and estimates to produce about 10,000t in March, a source from the company revealed to Asian Metal.
The source stated, "We resumed our silicomanganese Mn65%min, Si17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.04%max in February with two lines on and we plan to open four lines in March".The producer plans to keep the monthly output level at around 10,000t in the first half of the year. They stopped producing silicomanganese since June 2022 due to the thin profit and the weak demand.
Based on the annual production capacity of 400,000t of silicomanganese, the producer intends to produce around 100,000t this year. They currently hold no stock at the present.
Due to the high production costs despite the sluggish demand, most suppliers of silicomanganese in China prefer to hold their prices unchanged. Currently, the prevailing prices of silicomanganese Mn65%min, Si17%max, P 0.25%max, S 0.04%max in China stay at RMB7,200-7,400/t (USD1,041-1,070/t) EXW D/P, in line with the middle of this week. Considering the thin profit despite the soft demand, insiders believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese silicomanganese would stay flat in the following days.
