IEA: Global coal consumption in 2022 would hit record high

Global coal consumption in 2022 is expected to exceed 8 billion tonnes for the first time in history, up by 1.2% from that of a year earlier, surpassing the previous record set in 2013, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in its Coal Analysis and Forecast 2022 report on December 16.
The report predicted that the biggest increase in coal demand may come from India with a year-on-year growth of 7%, followed by Europe, with a year-on-year growth of 6%; while that in China would be just 0.4%.
