Russia to exempt export tariffs on coal in Q1 2023

Alexei Sazanov, the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, revealed recently that from early 2023 on Russia will exempt export tariffs on steam coal and coking coal but will continue to levy mining taxes on minerals
. It is reported that from January 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023, by increasing mining tax rates on anthracite, coking coal and steam coal, Russian government will have additional revenue of RUB14 . 4 billion (USD2 . 01 billion); meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance of Russia will monitor the coal market and will decide on whether to resume tax on the basis of monitoring results in the first quarter.
