Canada requires three Chinese mining giants to withdraw investments from Canadian companies

On November 2 local time, the Canadian Ministry of Industry required three Chinese companies to withdraw their investments from key mineral companies in Canada, for the sake of national security. The three Chinese companies are Sinomine (Hong Kong) Rare Metals Resources Co., Limited under Sinomine Resource, Chengxin Lithium's Hong Hong-based grandson subsidiary Chengze Lithium International, and Zangge Mining Investment (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. under Zangge Mining. According to the new policy announced by the Canadian government last week, investments by foreign state-owned companies into Canadian key mineral companies will be subject to strict review.
