SEMI: Chinese Mainland may occupy 21% of global 200mm wafer production capacity in 2022

The Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International Inc. (SEMI) announced in the "200mm Wafer Plant Outlook for 2025" that it was expected that from 2021 to 2025, the global semiconductor manufacturers' 200mm wafer production capacity would increase by 20%, and 13 new 200mm production lines would be added. In 2022, Chinese Mainland is expected to account for 21% of the global 200mm wafer production capacity, followed by Taiwan, China and Japan, accounting for 11% and 10% respectively.
In terms of 200mm wafer capacity expansion, by 2025, China will lead the world, with an increase of 66%, followed by Southeast Asia with an increase of 35%, the Americas with an increase of 11%, Europe and the Middle East with an increase of 8%, and South Korea with an increase of 2%.
