Thailand's coal imports fall by 12.9% YOY in Jan-Aug

According to statistics released by Thailand Customs, in the first eight months of 2022, Thailand imported 14.549 million tons of coal (including lignite), down by 12.9% from the same period of a year earlier. In particular, bituminous coal and anthracite imported recorded 14.386 million tons, down by 12.9% year on year; lignite imports were 162,300 tons, declining by 12.5% year on year.
In August, Thailand imported 2.163 million tonnes of coal (including lignite), down by 4.9% year-on-year and 4.8% month-on-month. In particular, bituminous coal and anthracite imports showed 2.157 million tons, down by 3.9% year on year; lignite imports totaled 6,000 tons, decreasing by 80.0% year on year.
