Sunwoda to invest RMB12 billion in Yichang 30GWh power battery project

On September 15, Sunwoda announced that its subsidiary Sunwoda Auto Battery planned to sign an investment agreement on Yichang power battery production base with government of Yichang city, Dongfeng Group and Dongfeng Hongtai. Focusing on R&D, design, production and selling of power battery cells, modules, PACK and battery systems, the production base will have total planned investment of around RMB12 billion (USD1.71 billion) with a designed power battery production capacity of 30GWh. The project will consist of two phases, including phase one with around RMB8 billion (USD1.14 billion) investment and 20GWh designed capacity and phase two with RMB4 billion (USD0.57 billion) investment and 10GWh capacity.
