IEA predicts global coal consumption to return to historic peak recorded in 2013

A new report released on Wednesday by the International Energy Agency (IEA) warned that, assuming China's economy recovers in the second half of 2022 as expected, the global coal consumption of the year would rise by 0.7% to reach about 8 billion tonnes, matching the historic peak reached in 2013.
The IEA also predicts that India's coal consumption is to stay in a high level in the second half of this year, increasing by 7% year on year; and that of the EU is set to rise again, with an increase of 7% YOY for the whole year.
