The global crude steel production declined by 5.9% year on year to 158.1 million tonnes (Mt) in June 2022, according to data released by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).
In June, Africa produced 1.2 Mt, down by 18.7% YOY; Asia and Oceania produced 1.19Mt, down by 3.1% YOY; EU (27) produced 11.8 Mt, down by 12.2% YOY; other countries in Europe produced 3.8 Mt, down by 10.9% YOY; The Middle East produced 3.4 Mt, down by 5.0% YOY; North America produced 9.6 Mt, down by 2.4% YOY; Russia & other CIS + Ukraine produced 5.9 Mt, down by 34.4% YOY; South America produced 3.7 Mt, down by 4.9% YOY.
During the month, China produced 90.7 Mt of crude steel, down by 3.3% YOY; India produced 10.0 Mt, up by 6.3% YOY; Japan produced 7.4 Mt, down by 8.1% YOY; the United States produced 6.9 Mt, down by 4.2% YOY; Russia is estimated to have produced 5.0 Mt, down by 22.2% YOY; South Korea produced 5.6 Mt, down by 6.0% YOY; Germany produced 3.2 Mt, down by 7.0% YOY; Turkey produced 2.9 Mt, down by 13.1% YOY; Brazil produced 2.9 Mt, down by 6.1% YOY; Iran's crude steel production is estimated to reach 2.2 Mt, down by 10.8% YOY.
