Chongqing Zuhang Steel to replace 1.01Mtpa steelmaking capacity

In accordance with relevant guidelines and implementation measures issued by the State Council, the formal capacity replacement scheme of Chongqing Zuhang Steel Co., Ltd. was made public by Chongqing Economic and Information Commission on July 13.
According to the scheme, the company will build a 130-ton electric arc furnace with steelmaking capacity of 1.01 million tons per annum (Mtpa) to replace its existing two 70-ton electric arc furnaces with the combined capacity of 1.01Mtpa. Construction of the new furnace is scheduled to commence in November 2022 with production expected in December 2023. The two smaller furnaces would be fully shut down when the new furnace becomes operational.
