CHN Energy: 22Mtpy additional capacity approved for Xinjiang coal mines

China's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), recently released a list of coal mines that have been given the green light to increase production capacity. Three coal mines operated by Shenhua Xinjiang Energy Co.,Ltd., a subsidiary of CHN Energy, were on the list for a combined additional capacity of 22 million tonnes per year (Mtpy).
The approved capacity for Zhundong open-pit coal mine, Hongshaquan No.1 open-pit coal mine and Heishan open-pit coal mine has increased from 26Mtpy, 20Mtpy and 13Mtpy to 35Mtpy, 30Mtpy and 16Mtpy respectively.
