China's Inner Mongolia aims to cut its coal use to below 75% of energy consumption by 2025, with the percentage of non-fossil energy use reaching roughly 18%, according to a government document issued on June 6.
The implementation plan for energy conservation and emissions reduction for the 14th five-year plan period (2021-2025) calls for a strict and rational control over the growth of coal consumption, as well as the clean utilization of coal. The document also encourages companies to accelerate energy-saving upgrades and flexibility retrofits on units that remain in service and actively advance retrofits in coal-fueled heating facilities.
