Germany's Merck KGaA announces to build new semiconductor base in Zhangjiagang

On May 31, Germany-based technology company Merck KGaA announced that it has formally signed the agreement to operate businesses in Zhangjiagang. Through its largest single investment in electronic science and technology in China, the company will further focus on the semiconductor industry chain and plans to invest RMB550 million (USD82.12 million) in building a new plant for mass production of semiconductor film material and electronic special gas, as well as chemical warehouses and operation center, with an overall area of about 11.37 acres.
