State Council: To release quality coal production capacity and improve coal reserve capacity

China's State Council released a Notice on Issuing a Package of Policies to Stabilize Economy on May 31st. According to the notice, the quality coal production capacity should be released in an orderly manner on the premise of ensuring safe, clean and efficient use; coal output stimulus and restriction mechanism should be established and improved; procedures of coal mines aiming to guarantee coal supply should be boosted more rapidly based on laws and regulations, so as to support opencast and underground coal mine projects that meet relative conditions to release production capacity on the premise of ensuring work safety and ecological security. The notice also mentioned that coal mines that meet all requirements for work safety should be supported to improve production capacity and quality coal production capacity should be released more quickly to ensure sufficient supply of both coal and coal-fired power in power consumption summit in summer.
