Global crude steel production from the 64 countries reporting to World Steel Association reached 161 million tonnes (Mt) in March 2022, a decrease of 5
The top ten producing countries of crude steel in March were China, India, Japan, U.S . , Russia, South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Iran.
Statistics showed that China produced 88.3Mt of crude steel in March, down by 6 . 4% YOY; production from India, Japan, and U . S . recorded 10 . 9Mt, 8Mt and 7Mt respectively, representing a year-on-year decrease of 4 . 4%, 4 . 3% and 1 . 7%.
In March, Russia reported an estimated crude steel output of 6.6Mt, down by 1 . 8% YOY; South Korea's crude steel output of 5 . 7Mt declined by 6 . 1% YOY; Germany's crude steel production fell by 11 . 8% from a year ago to 3 . 3Mt.
Turkey produced 3.3Mt, down by 2 . 9% YOY . The estimated crude steel production in Brazil was 3 million tons, up by 5 . 4% YOY, while that in Iran posted 2 . 3 million tons, down by 6 . 1% YOY.
From January to March, the output in China, Japan, U.S . and Russia totaled 243Mt, 23Mt, 20 . 3Mt and 18 . 7Mt respectively, down by 10 . 5%, 2 . 9%, 0 . 4% and 1 . 2% year on year . India's crude steel production in the first three months was up by 5 . 9% YOY to 31 . 90Mt.
The production for the first three months in South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Iran recorded 16.9Mt, 9 . 8Mt, 9 . 4Mt, 8 . 5Mt and 6 . 9Mt respectively, down by 3 . 8%, 3 . 7%, 4 . 7%, 2 . 2% and 4 . 4% from the comparable period of last year.
