POSCO announces $4 billion investment in Argentinian lithium project

South Korean steelmaker POSCO announced on March 21 that it will invest $4 billion in a new lithium mining project in Argentina, as the company seeks to draw on soaring demand for the key rechargeable battery metal.
The funds will be used for the Salar de Hombre Muerto Project located in the border between the northern Salta and Catamarca provinces.
Posco expects to initially produce 25,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide there per yea and expand production to100,000 tonnes after completion of the project.
