Chinese antimony market ran slowly during the Spring Festival holiday in February. Plants gradually halted production for maintenance and most consumers finished purchase plans around the Spring Festival, leaving limited deals. Due to tight supply of raw material, insiders were bullish about market outlook and suppliers intended to hold back from selling. After the holiday, consumers maintained regular purchases with limited stocks, while suppliers raised prices to test market for tight supply, leading to a rise in antimony ingot prices. Supported by this, prices of antimony trioxide and ethylene glycol antimony both went up. In a word, Chinese antimony market saw tight supply of raw material and limited spot supply, but downstream demand was relatively weak with consumers purchasing from hand to mouth.
In the international market, import prices of antimony products increased following up with higher prices in China. Overseas buyers planned to add stocks for fear of higher prices, and Chinese antimony exporters lifted prices.
