MIIT: Strictly control energy consumption in steel and other key industries

On February 28, the State Council Information Office of China held a press conference on promoting the smooth operation and upgrading of industry and information. Xiao Yaqing, the Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said the government will strictly implement policies on capacity replacement in industries such as steel, cement, plate glass and primary aluminum, and resolutely curb the blind development of projects with high energy consumption, high emissions and low level, especially controlling the energy consumption in key industries such as steel.
