1. Market Highlights
Chinese antimony market ran steadily in January with a slight downtrend. Upstream producers held prices firm due to tight supply of raw material while downstream consumers refused to purchase at high prices with soft demand, leaving the market in a stalemate. Spot supply of antimony concentrate was tight and the prices were firm, but downstream customers just waited on the sidelines. Supported by tight supply of raw material and antimony ingot, antimony ingot plants had less production around the Spring Festival and kept prices high. The prices of antimony trioxide were stable owing to firm raw material prices, however, the end market had few deals for the material. The ethylene glycol antimony market ran slowly amid weak demand and inactive purchasing activities.
In the international market, prices of antimony products stayed unchanged affected by blocked sea transportation and tight spot supply. Overseas buyers intended to purchase on orders in view of high antimony prices with a wait-and-see attitude. The international market ran slowly on the whole in January.
