Udokan Copper to reduce carbon emissions by 75% by 2035

Russian metallurgical company Udokan Copper announced on February 9 that it would cut its carbon footprint by as much as 75% by 2035.
The company plans to launch a new site in Udokan later this year in Russia's Far East which is the world's third-largest copper deposit.
Udokan Copper plans to obtain energy from low-carbon sources in order to reduce its carbon emissions. It is also considering developing and using its own energy derived from renewable sources to power its operations.
The Udokan project consists of a mine and a processing plant, which will produce copper cathodes and sulphide concentrate. The first phase of the plant is due to open this year and is projected to produce up to 135,000 tonnes of copper annually.
