First batch of coal medium and long-term contracts for 2022 signed

On December 3, the 2022 Coal Trade Fair was held in Rizhao. Coal production companies from Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia as well as some large domestic power generation, steel and heating companies signed medium and long-term contracts, with the first batch of contracts exceeding 260 million tons.
According to the statistics of China Electricity Council, from January to October, the rise in coal prices has caused an additional RMB431.8 billion (USD67.8 billion) in coal procurement costs for coal-fired power plants across the country. The signing of reasonable medium and long-term contracts for 2022 between coal and electricity parties will help power companies stabilize procurement costs, and ensure national energy security.
