WorldSteel: Global crude steel production down by 10.6% YOY in Oct

In October 2021, the crude steel output of 64 countries and regions included in the WorldSteel's statistics recorded 145.7 million tons, a decrease of 10.6% compared with October 2020.
In October 2021, crude steel production in Africa was 1.4 million tons, an increase of 24.1% over October 2020. Crude steel production in Asia and Oceania reached 100.7 million tons, down by 16.6%. The CIS produced 8.3 million tons of crude steel, down by 0.2%. The European Union (27 countries) produced 13.4 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 6.4%. Crude steel production in Europe and other countries recorded 4.4 million tons, up by 7.7%. The output of crude steel in the Middle East was 3.2 million tons, down by 12.7%. Crude steel production in North America reported 10.2 million tons, an increase of 16.9%. Crude steel production in South America reached 4 million tons, up by 12.1%.
In October 2021, China's crude steel output was 71.6 million tons, down by 23.3% from October 2020. India's crude steel output reached 9.8 million tons, an increase of 2.4%. Japan produced 8.2 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 14.3%. U.S. saw a crude steel output of 7.5 million tons, an increase of 20.5%. It is estimated that Russia's crude steel production recorded 6.1 million tons, a decrease of 0.5%; South Korea's crude steel output was 5.8 million tons, down by 1.0%; Germany produced 3.7 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 7.0%; Turkey's crude steel output was 3.5 million tons, up by 8.0%; Brazil estimates crude steel production at 3.2 million tons, an increase of 10.4%; Iran estimates crude steel production at 2.2 million tons, down by 15.3%.
