Relevant departments of China inspect illegal coal storage sites

On October 26, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) made arrangements with other departments concerned to clean up and rectify coal storage sites in coal producing areas.The NDRC held a video conference together with relevant departments, calling on Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia to organize investigations promptly and strengthen supervision and rectification by category. They also proposed to standardize the preparation system for legal coal storage sites, and ban coal storage sites that have not been approved or gone through land use, environmental protection, safety and other procedures. To create a fair and orderly market for coal operations, the NDRC demanded a stern crackdown on illegal profit-making activities such as hoarding and driving up coal prices at illegal coal storage sites.
