In order to promote energy conservation, carbon reduction and green transformation in key industrial sectors, we will resolutely curb the blind development of the "two highs" projects nationwide and ensure that the carbon peak goal is achieved on schedule. If the National Development and Reform Commission issues the "Opinions" one day after president Xi's speech on October 22, I believe the wording will be changed to "strictly control the blind launch of "two highs" projects".
How does the ferrochrome metallurgical industry conform to the "green and low-carbon development trend"?
All enterprises in the ferrochrome metallurgy industry must have strategic thinking, have a deep understanding and attention to the strategic layout of the central government, and make corresponding action plans in advance to carry out energy-saving and carbon-reduction technological transformation during the transition period of policy implementation.

Generally speaking, increasing the use of Turkish chrome ore can improve metallurgical efficiency, reduce the electricity consumption of producing per unit of ferrochrome, reduce carbon emissions, and reduce the generation of chrome slag which is harmful to the environment.
Metallurgical companies need to change the traditional cost-saving concept. The production cost of mines definitely does account for a large proportion of the metallurgical process. The use of cheap and low-quality chrome ore can indeed save costs. However, it is not in line with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC)'s proposal of "accelerate energy conservation and carbon reduction in key areas" and "strengthen energy conservation and carbon reduction processes." and also doesn't follow the trend of "green and low-carbon development."
In the past two years, the spot price gap between Turkish chrome ore and South African chrome ore has become larger and larger. For example, two years ago, the spot price of 46-48% Turkish concentrate at China port was 10 yuan more than the price of 40-42% S.A UG2 concentrate. But now the gap reached more than 20 yuan/DMTU. This example illustrates:
1.Many ferrochrome metallurgical enterprises are starting to carry out energy-saving and carbon-reducing technological transformations, and have made changes in their thinking about ore usage, "to use high-quality ores, easier on producing high-quality FeCr, consuming less electricity, and increasing output".
2.Metallurgical enterprises choose to proactively follow the "green and low-carbon development trend", for the long-term safe and healthy development of the enterprise, make arrangements in advance, change development thinking, and be creative in the specific ore structure (use more good ore);
3.Metallurgical enterprises have improved their sense of mission and social responsibility, and actively contribute to the national carbon neutrality and carbon peaking strategy.
