1. Market Highlights
Supported by the production cut and slight demand recovery, wire rod and rebar prices in Chinese major markets recorded a rise of about RMB350/t (USD54/t) and RMB500/t (USD78/t) respectively this month. However, the market failed to perform actively due to limited demand from downstream industries . Due to the price rise in domestic market, Chinese exporters tried to lift prices accordingly . However, Chinese offers remained much higher than other supplying countries and not attractive in the international market.
In the international market, wire rod and rebar prices in some Asian countries such as Malaysia leveled off due to few buying and selling activities under the COVID-19. Those in India went down as the demand from downstream industries failed to recover as expected.
