1. Market Highlights
Upon soft demand from downstream industries and production cut from steel mills this month, CRC and HGI coil prices in Chinese mainstream markets did not show big changes and leveled off. Even though prices of iron ore fines dropped sharply continuously, those of coal and coke increased and steel mills were asked to cut production, which supported CRC and HGI coil prices from falling down with iron ore fines prices. Steel mills showed confidence in the coming market due to production cut but traders and downstream customers were cautious seeing relatively high prices. Due to firm prices from domestic market, Chinese steel mills became less active in exporting and tried to keep prices firm regardless of the decline from overseas market.
In the international market, CRC and HGI coil prices in major Asian countries including Vietnam and India showed downward trend due to soft demand and lower prices of raw materials.
