On September 23, Volkswagen (China) commenced construction of a battery system plant in Hefei city, Anhui province
The plant will have an initial production capacity of 150,000-180,000 sets of high-tension battery systems which will be all used in pure electric vehicles manufactured by Volkswagen's Anhui-based MEB base. Volkswagen plans to invest over EUR140 million (about RMB1 . 06 billion) by 2025 in the new plant and matching facilities . The plant is expected to go into operation in the latter half of 2023.
