Volkswagen (China)'s first fully controlled battery system plant to be built in Hefei

On September 23, Volkswagen (China) commenced construction of a battery system plant in Hefei city, Anhui province. The plant is the company's first fully controlled battery plant in China.
The plant will have an initial production capacity of 150,000-180,000 sets of high-tension battery systems which will be all used in pure electric vehicles manufactured by Volkswagen's Anhui-based MEB base. Volkswagen plans to invest over EUR140 million (about RMB1.06 billion) by 2025 in the new plant and matching facilities. The plant is expected to go into operation in the latter half of 2023.
