Japan's crude steel output up by 22.9% YOY in Aug

Japan produced about 7.924 million tons of crude steel in August, down by 1.0% MOM but up by 22.9% YOY, according to data released by Japan Iron and Steel Federation.
Japan's ordinary steel products output was around 6.036 million tons in August, down by 1.2% MOM but up by 14.2% YOY; and its special steel products posted 1.888 million tons, down by 0.4% MOM but up by 62.3% YOY.
In August, Japan produced about 5.919 million tons of pig iron, up by 0.3% from last month and 24.1% from the same period last year.
From January to August 2021, Japan produced about 63.988 million tons of crude steel, an increase of 17.0% year-on-year.
