Crude steel output in India is expected to surge by about 18% to 120 million tonnes in the current fiscal year (April 2021 to March 2022), according to Faggan Singh Kulaste, the Minister of Indian Steel Ministry.
Official data showed that India's crude steel production fell 6.1% year-on-year to about 102 million tonnes in last financial year impacted by the pandemic.
From April to July 2021, India's crude steel output was 37.527 million tons, up by 44 . 6% . Kulaste expected the crude steel production in India to reach 115-120 million tonnes this fiscal year.
Based on the 2017 National Steel Policy, India targeted at 300 million tonnes of crude steel production by FY2030-31.
