Exxaro Energy expects South African coal exports down by 9 million tons in H1 2021

Recently, the Indonesian miner Exxaro Energy revealed that, owing to reasons including safety and insufficient railway transportation capacity in South Africa, in the first half of 2021 the company estimated that exports of South African coal will decrease by 9 million tons.
As the major railway transportation service provider in South Africa, Transnet ransports coal from production regions to South Africa's largest coal export terminal RBCT. In 2020, coal exports via RBCT were 70.20 million tons. India, Pakistan and China are the top three export destinations for South African coal.
