1. Market Highlights
Chinese antimony market continued to see the upward price trend in July 2021 overall. Supported by robust demand, the international antimony market generally saw higher prices, which largely improved insiders' confidence towards the domestic market. Against the backdrop that most Chinese suppliers waited on the sidelines and some suppliers raised their prices to test the market situation, antimony ingot prices kept rising in the domestic market in July 2021 to RMB70,000/t; antimony concentrate prices rose to RMB53,000/t in the domestic market due to the continuous supply shortage and suppliers refused to sell the material in view of the upward price trend; affected by higher antimony ingot prices, some domestic antimony trioxide suppliers raised their prices, which stimulated the mainstream price to rise by nearly RMB5,000/t during the month, and some consumers had to refill stocks in small volumes worrying about the further increase of prices; in spite of limited deals in the domestic market, Chinese ethylene glycol antimony suppliers intended to raise their prices boosted by higher antimony trioxide prices, but ethylene glycol antimony prices just rose slowly during the month owing to the unbalanced supply-demand relationship.
The American and European antimony ingot markets saw rapid increase of prices in July 2021 due to limited supply in the local markets, higher prices in China and insufficient supply of containers against the backdrop that some local consumers started refilling stocks with a panic attitude; however, some local customers just waited on the sidelines in view of the rapid increase of prices and were cautious about purchasing. The international antimony ingot and antimony trioxide markets saw the upward price trend overall as suppliers raised their prices amid the tight supply in the spot market.
